Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. took to Twitter last February 2 stating his intent to let his fans choose who he'll fight this May 3 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

And yes, you guessed it. The names Mayweather threw were solid pugilists in their own right but doesn't have the zing and the zap that could potentially make a more appealing fight.

"I'm going to let the fans vote. Tell me who I should fight next. Khan or Maidana?" Mayweather asked.

Khan, 27, definitely has more following than Maidana but one can argue about the latter being more deserving, having won four straight fights (with three finishes) against top-tier competition. He absolutely demolished the heavily-favored Adrien Broner in a December 2013 bout and wrestled the WBA Welterweight title away from the previously undefeated 24-year-old.

Though it was crystal clear who the fans wanted "Money" to fight next, Manny Pacquiao has already set a date with Timothy Bradley in a rematch this April 12. Another welterweight standout Danny Garcia will fight March 15th in Puerto Rico. And we all know how Floyd Mayweather feels about fighting much quicker and larger men.

Word has it that Khan is the frontrunner for a clash with the world's top pound-for-pound boxer but unlike his last fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Mayweather and his crew will have a tough time selling this one to most pundits.

Either Khan or Maidana is physically smaller than Mayweather and none has the style that can theoretically overwhelm the Michigan native for the most part. The British-born Khan was a virtual newbie at 147 and the 30-year-old Maidana has lost three world championship bouts before dominating Broner.

Freddie Roach, who is mayweather pacquiao tickets on sale Khan's trainer, thinks Khan can surprise a lot of people with his speed and only has to fight smart against the wily Mayweather.

"I've always said Amir has the right style to beat Floyd if he fights correctly and doesn't stay in the pocket too long," Roach was quoted as saying. "I always thought he could beat him with his speed.

"I think he's faster than Mayweather and that's what it takes to beat him. Floyd might have his hands full on the night."

But yes, we know Roach is a little biased; Khan's his fighter after all.
